Francesca Esguerra

Francesca Esguerra is a Toronto-based visual artist who has been involved in advocacy for Filipino-Canadian issues and human rights issues in the Philippines, since arriving here in 1994. She was an organizer for Migrante Youth and Anakbayan, both Filipino youth organizations. She has used her artistic skills to design posters, educational materials and streamers for the community organizations she has worked with.

Her artwork reflects aspects of her own life, as well as the history and social realities of the Filipino people.

Francesca suffered a massive stroke in 2004, which affected her communication skills (including drawing), vision, and concentration. However, she remains motivated and determined to continue putting her artistic skills to work.
