FOOD SERVICE & hospitality program

Our Food Service and Hospitality Training (FSHT) program offers work based and sector-specific skills training to help women explore a career in the food services and hospitality sector.

ABOUT the program

The FSHT program builds upon the EPE Program to provide 10 weeks of sector focused career development program for the food service and hospitality sector.  The program targets unemployed immigrant, visible minority, and refugee women on social assistance from the East Toronto area with a background or an interest in pursuing a career in the food service and hospitality sector.

The 10-week training curriculum includes the following core learning elements:

  • One-to-One Skills and Career Assessments
  • Individual Career Plan Development
  • Sector Focused Career and Skills Training
  • Experiential Work Based Learning
  • Career Related Work Experience
  • Customized Foundation and Personal Support
  • Post-Program Plan Development

The program’s curriculum will include a holistic and integrated learning model that will provide participants with career and skills training, and hands-on work experience in the following sub-sectors of the food service industry: (1) Food and Beverage Service; (2) Catering and Social Entrepreneurship; (3) Events Management; and (4) Office and Administration.

WORK-BASED placements

Our FSHT includes 8-weeks of daily integrated work-based placements in four curriculum areas – (1) Food & Beverage Services; (2) Cateringa and Social Entrepreneurship; (3) Events Management; and (4) Office and Administration.

All placements are coordinated and supervised by the Program Coordinator and on-site Job Coach who will coordinate 80 hours of work placements (10 hours per week) for each program participant.
