PRIVACY POLICY

Who we are

Our website address is:  https://riverdalehub.ca.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

To limit spam, we allow comments from specific countries (Canada and the USA) only. To determine the geographical position of the user, Antispam Bee sends an anonymised (this means shortend) IP-Address to the online service https://ip2country.info/. Other data of the commentator is not sent.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

We store information submitted via our contact form for one year, for customer service purposes. If you wish for your information to be updated or deleted, please contact us at [email protected].

Email marketing opt-in forms

We use Mailchimp® as our marketing platform. By subscribing, you acknowledge that your information will be transferred to Mailchimp for processing. Learn more about Mailchimp’s privacy practices. Subscribers to email marketing may unsubscribe at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email.

All email marketing opt-in forms used on this site, such as popups, floating bars, inline-forms, and others, require consent from users before adding them to our mailing list. This is done with either:

  • a checkbox that user must click before opt-in which links to this privacy policy and the terms above;
  • or, the information above the form outlines the purpose of the form, whereby clicking on the submit button indicates and provides consent.

Additionally, users may be manually added to our mailing list when permission has been granted in advance in writing (i.e. via a sign up form at an in-person event).

Information gathered is used strictly for that purpose for which it was intended. We do not share the information submitted on an opt-in form with any third parties.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service, such as Antispam Bee. We allow comments from users in Canada and the USA.
